Animation / illustration design project
My client: Jacki Montgomery | Directortor of Academic Program, Creative Industries, Communication, Screen Media | Western Sydney Univesity.
The brief: To illustrate 10 blobby characters based on their challenging personality traits. Then animate the characters for a lecture pod used in Western Sydney University’s 21C Curiosity Pods. Also provide the characters as print collateral for a downloadable print version of the lecture pod.

The Grenade
This character will rant & rave until it produces an out of control explosion. Their tantrums seem disproportionate to the circumstances and you wonder when they will calm down.
The Maybe Person
This character will put off making crucial desicions until it is too late. They don’t want to bother or offend anyone and they don’t want to lose other people’s approval by things going wrong.
The Tank
This character is aggressive and ruthless and assumes that the end justifies the means.
The Sniper
This character resents you and aims to make you look foolish and inferior. They may make snide comments and may deliberately try to undermine you. Their behaviour in groups tends to stop the sharing of ideas and feedback.
The Know It All
This character is knowledgable, competent and highly assertive. They will happily tell you what they know for hours and hours. However, they will not take the time to listen to what they perceive as your potentially inferior ideas.
Think They Know it All
This attention seeker wants to be heard. They claim to know more than they truly know and if you don’t know much of what they are talking about, they may mislead you and throw a project off track.
The Whinger
Instead of taking action, this woe is me character will whine and whinge. In their own helplessness they claim to be stressed but don’t take responsibility.
No Person
This task focussed, risk avoiding perfectionist will say No to everything. This character is often pessimistic and only sees the glass as half empty.
Yes Person
This character has a strong people focus and weak task focus. They are often extremely disorganised and frequently overcommit, leaving a trail of broken promises and unfulfilled commitments.
Nothing Person
This character gives little or nothing away. They can be very task focused and if they see their quest for perfection being thwarted, they get frustrated and withdraw.
